Challenge 10: Social transformation

Context

The environmental challenges we are currently facing also have a social impact insofar as they affect the billions of people who live on the planet. Both droughts and floods, poor air or soil quality, and rising sea levels affect the basic rights of people and all living beings on the planet. The search for solutions to these environmental challenges, and therefore to the social problems they entail, is up to each and every one of us. Each of the shares we take in our daily lives can have a positive impact, and if we join forces, this impact multiplies exponentially. In this sense, non-profit initiatives and volunteering are a great lever for change. 90% of young people between 18 and 24 years old strongly believe in the value of volunteering to promote social justice. It is necessary that we all participate, to the extent possible, to do our part to achieve real sustainability, both environmental and banking.

Issues

  • Most citizens go through their entire lives without having participated in initiatives for the environment and, those who do, are unaware of their social impact.
  • Our citizens' daily routines generate a lot of waste and damage the environment.
  • Volunteering is not attractive to most people.
  • It's not easy to find a good volunteer opportunity that matches your skills or what you can offer.

Opportunities

  • A large part of our society is aware and eager to protect the environment.
  • Small changes in our routine could mean big changes for the environment.
  • Improve the attractiveness of volunteering by generating transformative experiences.
  • The internet and social networks are a technology that allows for a good "match" between projects and volunteers.

INNOVATION: The free neighbourhood social network. Get to know, recommend, and help your neighbours. Your neighbourhood, now closer to you!

WEBSITE: tienes-sal.es

Tienes sal? is a neighbourhood-level initiative to address challenges such as the anonymisation of society, the economic crisis, excessive consumption, and the development of the sharing economy. Strong, united neighbourhoods act on a small scale and benefit every individual, because together they are stronger. They improve our quality of life in the places where we spend most of our time: at home, in our streets, in our neighbourhood. With a good idea and this commitment, Tienes sal? wants to help revive and add some spice to our neighbourhoods.
